Our Training Program All-Star Team
A Pace Group Leader (PGL) or Mentor is one of the most important resources for participants in our training program. Serving as an on-the-road coach, motivator, and guide, PGLs play a critical role in the success of each pace group during training runs.
Our pace groups fall into three categories:
- Running Pace Groups – Organized in 30-second pace ranges (for example, 8:00–8:30 minutes per mile or 12:00–12:30 minutes per mile) to help participants train alongside others with similar goals and abilities.
- Interval Pace Groups – Alternate running and walking at set intervals, such as 3 minutes of running followed by 1 minute of walking.
- Walking and Race Walking Groups – Designed for participants who prefer a walking-focused training experience while working toward their fitness and race goals.
Each group relies on dedicated Pace Group Leaders to provide guidance, encouragement, and support throughout the training season.
Responsibilites:
- Complete water stop duties for a minimum of 2–3 training runs per season, based on program requirements
- Check in with store coaches after each training run to confirm that all participants from your pace group have returned safely
- Maintain regular attendance and reliability throughout the season. Excessive absences are defined as:
-
- Missing more than 20% of scheduled training runs, or
- Missing three training runs without prior communication
